Welcome to JB Historical Miniatures. My name is John Belcher, I live in Christchurch, New Zealand. I have had a passion for figure modelling and military history ever since I was a teenager. I was first inspired by my father who had a passion for history / military history and painted Napoleonic Historex and Airfix 54mm figures in the late 1960s and early 1970s. I have been painting figures for just over forty years. Apart from painting figures I also enjoy sculpting figures and have produced original one off sculptures over the last twenty years. Some of these subjects include military and non military subjects such as New Zealander Sir Edmund Hillary, the first person to successfully climb Mount Everest in 1953. I have been privileged over the years to have been recognized for my figure work with many awards including multiple Best in Shows in New Zealand and Australia and Gold, Silver and Bronze awards nationally and internationally in England and the United States of America. I have some of my work in private collections around the world. Over the last twelve years I have been involved in painting box art figures for several companies including Peter Jackson's WINGNUT WINGS, David Allen's WINGS COCKPIT FIGURES and Andy Cairns AC MODELS. I share my passion for figure modelling with anyone that has an interest and enjoy attending scale model shows where I have the chance to display and enter my work.
